Amaro: The School in Our Memory

A film about Colégio Santo Amaro, a century-old school in Rio de Janeiro that closed its doors in 2020 during the pandemic, just before its 100th anniversary.
Through the memories of its students, teachers, nuns, and staff, a panorama emerges that intertwines history, education, and affection.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marília, Marcelo, and Mateus travel to Pernambuco, their home state. Unable to see many friends and family, all that remains are their memories of yesteryear, from the time they lived there. Between past and present, affection resurfaces, as they know the trip will soon end and those places will once again only exist in their memories. (Documentary).
Film screened at the 17th Ouro Preto Film Festival.
The tale of a shattered La Ursa, an image that, imprisoned, carries within itself another, lurking. Only a reflection is seen, a fragment, a carcass.

ABOUT MATEUS RAMEH

Born in Recife, Pernambuco, Mateus moved to Rio de Janeiro in 2014. Since then, he has worked around Brazil on several projects, both in film and social media, performing diverse roles: Screenwriting, Production, Assistant Direction, but mainly Directing and Editing, areas in which he seeks to focus his academic training and professional work.
Holds a Bachelor's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from UFF, and has worked as a self-employed individual (MEI) since February 2022. During his undergraduate studies, he was a scholarship-funded monitor for the Editing course and a scholarship recipient for extension programs at LUPA-UFF (University Laboratory for Audiovisual Preservation), graduating in 2025. Currently, he continues at LUPA with a CNPQ scholarship for the INCT PreRes project (National Institute of Science and Technology in Preservation and Restoration). He is a member of edt. (Association of Audiovisual Editing Professionals) and ABPA (Brazilian Association for Audiovisual Preservation).
